Our Flagship Winery

Celestino Cassone was the initial member of the Cassone  family to emigrate to Argentina, arriving during the mid 19th century from Piamonte, a fertile area of vineyards and wheat plantations in northwestern Italy. Today the Cassone family is the owner of the 90-year-old vineyards as well as the winery. Eduardo Cassone, together with his sons Eduardo José, Martin, and Federico carry on the passion and traditions taught to Eduardo by his father Roberto Cassone, who started the winery in Mendoza during the 1950’s in the small wine district of Junin.

The Cassone family owns and manages  three vineyards in the province of Mendoza, bordered by the Andes,  with the majestic Aconcagua Mountain in the background. Two of the centennial vineyards are located in  Lujan de Cuyo, considered the finest terroir in the world for the Malbec grape, the signature red of Argentina, Each  vineyard contains 14 hectares planted with non-grafted vines. Along with a 15-year-old vineyard of 45 hectares located in Argelo, these small pieces of land, along with the intense personal attention of the family members, assures the utmost in quality control at every step of production.

This meticulous attention to detail at the vineyards and winery was noted by the owner of Bodegas de Mendoza, Inc. during his initial visit to the Cassone vineyards and winery, and is the origin of the company creed “ desde la cepa hasta la copa” , which translates as “ from the grape to the glass”.  The Cassone vineyards and winery remain our flagship winery, and we believe their wines represent a combination of quality and value unsurpassed by any other winery in Argentina.

The winery is located in Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo, at one of the old vineyard sites. The winery was built in 1998 in the traditional style of Mendoza, with high walls and wooden ceilings. While maintaining traditional customs and artesian production, the winery incorporated the latest machinery and equipment such as stainless steel tanks, a modern refrigeration system, and  French and American oak barrels for aging the premium wines.  Beginning with hand selection of the best grapes collected in small crates, the owners personally supervise every step in the tending of the vines, hand harvesting of the grapes, and fermentation, lactation, and bottling of the wines.
The philosophy of the Winery of the Cassone Family is to produce wines of the highest quality, a modern style, with very well defined diverse characteristics, along with the freshness of the fruit, while maintaining respect for the environment and of the quality of soil.
